How To Connect 2 Laptops To One Docking Station?
If you ever feel that most graphic designers, videographers, or computer programmers use a desktop with a large LED (Display), they prefer desktop computers over laptops. The reason is that the size of laptop screens is one of the most significant factors affecting their use in the modern era. The screen sizes on laptops are smaller than what most people need, besides, being a portable product, a 52-inch display would not be possible. In this situation, a docking station may provide an alternative solution.
Therefore in this article, we will look at how to connect two laptops to one docking station. We could do this in a number of different ways, but let’s go through the simplest way to accomplish this.
Why to use a Docking Station To Connect Two Laptops?
A docking station is an external display device that connects to a laptop, extending your display from a laptop to a larger screen by pressing a button and making a dual monitor setup.
There are a variety of purposes for which docking stations can be used by professionals. It is possible to operate particular functions from my laptop on larger and more transparent screens with the help of a docking station that connects my monitor to the laptop, keyboard, and mouse.
How can two laptops share a docking station?
Step 1: Connecting Docking Station To Laptops
First of all, you need to connect your laptop, or two displays for a desktop with the docking station through HDMI or USB 3.0 (Depending on which one is supported by your device). You connect the keyboard, mouse, and Ethernet cable as well.
Step 2: Installing Dock Station Driver
Turn On the Device and Install the required driver for the dock station on both laptops or PC which you want to connect through the device. If you are not able to find the required driver, you can use SAM Driver to detect and install the driver itself.
Step 3: Displaying Your Preferrable Screen
You may see the Docking Station branding on both displays. You can use one of your computers and drag your screen to both displays by dragging the display via the mouse cursor.
Step 4: Switching Between The Two Laptops
Switching the two laptops is pretty easy. In most Docking Station it is just pressing a button. If you want to show the previous laptop screen, press the button on the Docking Station and it will switch the display. Press the button again to switch it again to the 2nd laptop.
